What Drives Dumpster Work in Punta Gorda

Punta Gorda has been rebuilt twice in twenty years, and that shows up in the containers. Three things account for most of the work.

Storm rebuild and hardening. Charley in 2004, Ian in 2022. A lot of what we haul here is not a renovation anybody planned — it is roof tear-offs, drywall, flooring and soaked cabinetry, plus the work that follows when a house gets brought up to current code on the way back.

Canal-front concrete. Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles are built on water, and the city runs a canal advisory committee for each of them. Seawalls, docks and boat lifts are their own permit here, and the debris is clean concrete — heavy, and cheaper to move as a clean load than mixed in with everything else.

The historic grid downtown. Older homes on small lots with tight street frontage. The 10 yard at 11 feet is often the only container that sits comfortably, and where it goes matters more than what size it is.

Maxim Disposal 10 yard roll-off dumpster

10 Yard

10 yard
About 3 pickup truck loads. 11 feet long — half the length of the others, and often the only can that fits a short driveway or gets past a gate. Single bathroom, one room, small landscaping.

Maxim Disposal 20 yard roll-off dumpster

20 Yard

20 yard
About 6 pickup truck loads. The one most remodels take — kitchen, kitchen and bath together, roofing tear-offs, mid-size contractor jobs.

Maxim Disposal 30 yard roll-off dumpster

30 Yard

30 yard
About 9 pickup truck loads. Full demolition, large estate cleanouts, lot clearing and high-volume construction debris.

What the driver needs: roughly 60 feet of straight clearance and room overhead. Cars moved, gate open, nothing parked where the can goes. Price your job in three taps on the cost page — every rate and every additional charge is there.

Which Can for Which Job

Four containers cover it. Match the can to the material and the job runs cleaner.

Construction and demolition. The everyday can. Cabinets, flooring, drywall, trim, lumber, roofing, furniture, mixed tear-out. Comes in 10, 20 and 30 yard.

Clean concrete. A dedicated 20 yard for concrete, block, brick and busted slab. It goes to a recycling facility instead of a landfill, which is why it carries far more weight than the same size mixed can. It has to be clean — no wood, drywall or dirt mixed in.

Yard waste. Brush, palm fronds, hedge trimmings, limbs and root balls, in 20 and 30 yard. Green material only. Mix it with construction debris and the whole load reclassifies.

Concrete washout. A 6.5 yard containment unit for pour days. It keeps rinse water off the ground and off your stormwater exposure. Not every hauler in this market runs one.

Not sure which one? Tell us the material and we will size it with you on the phone.

Why Punta Gorda Customers Choose Maxim

Maxim Disposal crew member in high-visibility gear setting a roll-off container on site

Real local crew, not a broker

You get Shelby, not a 1-800 dispatcher and not a broker who resells your job to whoever answers. He knows what is on the schedule, what the trucks are doing and whether he can move something for you — so you get a straight answer on the first call instead of a callback that may or may not come. Need a swap in the middle of a job? Same person, same number.

Hourly-paid drivers, not per load

Our drivers are paid hourly, not by the load. Nobody is racing to squeeze in one more stop, so they take the time to set the can exactly where you want it, put protection down first, and leave the spot how they found it. It is the difference between a can that lands where you pointed and one that lands where it was quickest to drop.

Four containers, one number

Four containers, one number. Construction and demolition debris in 10, 20 and 30 yard. Clean concrete in a dedicated 20 yard that carries 15 tons. Yard waste in 20 and 30 yard horticulture cans. And a 6.5 yard concrete washout container for pour days. Run all four on the same site without calling four companies.

How It Works

1. Call, text or email. Tell us the material, roughly where the can goes and the day you want it. Usually about ninety seconds.

2. We pencil you in. A human confirms your delivery window within two hours during business hours. Next day is usually no problem, most jobs go out within 24 to 30 hours, and same day is not off the table — ask and we will tell you straight.

3. Delivery with protection down. The can goes down on protection so your driveway, pavers or stamped concrete stay the way we found them.

4. Contact us when you are done. Pickup or a swap, whichever you need. Every rental runs 30 days.

Punta Gorda Dumpster Rental FAQs

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Punta Gorda?

Not for a can in your own driveway or on your own jobsite. If it has to sit in a public street, on a sidewalk or in the right of way, you need approval first. Inside city limits the right-of-way permit is a City of Punta Gorda Building Division form, and Public Works runs the right-of-way desk at 941-575-5050. If your address is unincorporated Charlotte County rather than the city, the county handles it — ask for the Right-of-Way Specialist at 941-743-1264. Maxim does not pull permits, so make that call before delivery day.

What does a dumpster cost in Punta Gorda?

Most jobs land between $395 and $645 depending on size and material, plus a flat $30 fuel fee. That covers delivery, pickup, disposal, tax and 30 days of rental — there is no separate delivery charge. Construction and demolition is the cheaper end, yard waste the dearer, and clean concrete carries far more weight for the same money. Price your exact job in three taps on the cost page.

I am tearing out a seawall or a dock. Does that go in a regular can?

It can, but it should not. Clean concrete goes in a dedicated 20 yard that carries a 15 ton limit and goes to a recycling facility instead of a landfill — it is the cheapest material you can get rid of here. Mix wood, dock boards or dirt into it and the whole load reclassifies as construction debris and gets priced that way. If a job produces both, run two cans.

How fast can I get a dumpster in Punta Gorda?

Next day is usually no problem. Punta Gorda is a straight run up 41 or 75 from our Fort Myers yard. Same day depends on where the trucks already are, and a human makes that call rather than a booking screen.

What size do I need?

A single bathroom usually fits a 10 yard, about 3 pickup loads. A kitchen, or a kitchen and bath together, is normally a 20 at about 6 loads. Full demo and lot clearing take a 30 at about 9. On the older downtown lots the 10 yard is often the practical limit regardless of how much debris you have.

Do you still run storm cleanup work?

Yes, and we have through both storms. A 30 yard handles lot clearing and mixed debris. If it is vegetation only, a horticulture can is cheaper because it goes to a different facility. Tell us what the pile actually is and we will size it with you rather than guessing on your behalf.

Hazardous waste, paint, oils, tires, batteries, asbestos, freon, wet concrete or slurry, contaminated soil, electronics, and mattresses can’t go in a standard dumpster. Some items may be handled separately on request.

Every rental includes 30 days. There is no daily rate and no meter running — most jobs finish well inside it. If a can sits past 30 days a $295 idle fee applies, and we will call you before that happens rather than let it land on the invoice. Need it longer? Tell us up front and we will work it out.

Weight limits depend on the dumpster size and the type of debris you’re loading. Heavy materials like concrete, dirt, masonry, and roofing debris may require a different setup than a general cleanout. Some roll-off dumpsters can hold up to 10 tons, or 20,000 pounds, but Maxim will explain your tonnage allowance in the quote before delivery.

Yes. We run storm cleanup work regularly across Southwest Florida. During busy storm-recovery periods, it’s best to reach out early so the team can confirm availability and help you select an appropriate dumpster.
