What Drives Dumpster Work in Cape Coral

Building on empty lots. The Cape was platted with far more lots than houses and it is still filling in, quadrant by quadrant. A build here runs through three different kinds of debris on the same address over a few months — vegetation when the lot is cleared, concrete through footers and slab, then mixed construction waste once framing starts.
Waterfront work. Four hundred miles of canals means seawalls, docks, pool cages and lanais, and all of it eventually needs replacing. Seawall and pool deck tear-outs are the heaviest loads we run in the Cape, and they are almost always concrete.
Utility conversions. The city’s Utilities Extension Project is still moving septic-to-sewer through the north end — North 1, North 3, North 5 and North 6 — and that work runs through driveways, swales and landscaping before it is finished.

10-Yard Dumpster
The 10-cubic-yard dumpster is our smallest option, with an approximate footprint of 11×7.5 ft and a height of about 4.5 ft. It is perfect for projects with minimal non-bulky waste, such as small cleanouts, landscaping projects and one-room renovations. 20-Yard Dumpster

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Cape Coral?
Not for a can on your own driveway or your own lot. The city right-of-way is a different matter — Cape Coral requires a permit for work in city-owned right-of-way or roadway easement, and that generally covers the first 15 to 20 feet in from the street edge. Surface Water Management handles that side and can be reached at 239-574-0414. The city moved to online-first permitting in July 2026. Maxim does not pull permits, so make that call before delivery day.
What does a dumpster cost in Cape Coral?
Most jobs land between $395 and $645 depending on size and material, plus a flat $30 fuel fee. That covers delivery, pickup, disposal, tax and 30 days of rental — there is no separate delivery charge. Can the can sit on the swale?
That is the question we get most in the Cape, and the honest answer is not without checking. The grass swale in front of most Cape lots is part of the city’s drainage system and sits inside the right-of-way, so it is not free space to park a container on. The driveway is almost always the better spot. Tell us what you are working with and we will find something that works.
I am clearing a lot before a build. Which can?
Yard waste, in a 20 or 30 depending on how much vegetation is coming off. Keep it to vegetation only. On the permit side, if you are building right away the tree work usually rides along with the building permit; if you are clearing now and building later, a separate clearing permit may apply. Confirm that with the city before the machine shows up.
Seawall or pool deck tear-out — what do I need?
The dedicated 20 yard concrete can. Seawall panels and pool decks are heavy and dense, and concrete-only pricing is far better than putting the same material in a mixed can. Keep it clean concrete, block and brick. Rebar is fine but it does add a fee, and the amount is on the cost page.
What about a screen enclosure or pool cage?
Aluminum framing and screen go in a construction and demolition can. If the job includes the pool deck as well, that concrete should go separately in a concrete can — mixing them means the whole load prices as construction debris.
How fast can I get a dumpster in Cape Coral?
Next day is usually no problem, and most jobs go out within 24 to 30 hours. Same day is not off the table — it depends on where the trucks already are, and a human makes that call. Ask and we will tell you straight.
What size do I need?
A single bathroom usually fits a 10 yard, about 3 pickup loads. A kitchen, or a kitchen and bath together, is normally a 20 at about 6 loads. Full demo and lot clearing take a 30 at about 9. If you might need a second can, size the first one up — two rentals means two deliveries and two pickups.
Do I need to be there when it is delivered?
No. A clear description or a photo of the drop spot is usually enough. Open the gate, keep dogs contained, and a cone or a flag where you want it helps the driver put it exactly right.
Hazardous waste, paint, oils, tires, batteries, asbestos, freon, wet concrete or slurry, contaminated soil, electronics, and mattresses can’t go in a standard dumpster. Some items may be handled separately on request.
Every rental includes 30 days. There is no daily rate and no meter running — most jobs finish well inside it. If a can sits past 30 days a $295 idle fee applies, and we will call you before that happens rather than let it land on the invoice. Need it longer? Tell us up front and we will work it out.
Weight limits depend on the dumpster size and the type of debris you’re loading. Heavy materials like concrete, dirt, masonry, and roofing debris may require a different setup than a general cleanout. Some roll-off dumpsters can hold up to 10 tons, or 20,000 pounds, but Maxim will explain your tonnage allowance in the quote before delivery.
